What is self improvement?

DON’T GET ME WRONG!

Improving yourself does not mean to act like somebody else (this is something I learned). Improving yourself. Means:

  • Self :The Self is the individual person, from his or her own perspective. To you, Self is you. To a different person, Self is that person.
  • Improveing: Improve means to make something better. You can’t make something better that does not exist.

Now putting these two puzzle pieces together. Means that the self improvement means to become YOUR BEST SELF!How do you know who your best self is? Well let me put it this way: We all have this fantasy to  one day meet this perfect friend/person : that embodies really cool traits such as being social, friendly, confident… Well how about YOU starting to become that fantasy and be that person to your friends. You know in you, who you really are and what you love to do, but (even if this sounds weird) society has put on some weird layers, onto your confidence that often determine you to act a certain way. (Most of the time this is negative). It is this voice within us, that tells us to buy product X or to act really cool like James Bond… But let me tell you this:  That voice is not YOU. That voice is THEM(Coorperations telling you to buy x or to do y) So you must start peeling all those layers off and become FOOLISH  and HUNGRY again. (This is why I started this Blog) I call it fighting the DRAGON.

But be careful! that dragon is not an external entity that you can kill. It is part of you! Your beliefs and your aspirations. It is a belief you have been carrying around for many years. So you must first identify your dragon:

1. What are its strength?

: Why do you do things that are actually bad for you. I don’t mean

2. What are the sources of your dragon?

: Sometimes it goes as far back as you parents telling you as a small child: don’t talk to strangers. don’t talk to strangers. don’t talk to strangers. This was of cause meant in a very friendly way, as a necessity to prevent a stranger to kidnap you or worse. But what happened there was a BANG! Your dragon was armed with the weapon, TALKING TO STRANGERS IS BAD. So as you grew up you started being scared and then ignoring strangers. Just look at the people sitting in the public transport or walking through the city… Captured in their own little world.)

Sometimes the source is a past relationship… where I want to get here is for you to get to understand YOURSELF! In order to reach that best self… It is a lifelong journey and I urge you to look to use this as a ‘understanding tool’ and not as a blame game. SO MOVE ON!

Let’s fight back! Ok so once you identified your source such as the ‘ stranger danger’ source you can fight back. This is done in a very subtle way. Such as…. you guessed it: Right! Talking to strangers.

So exercise #1 is for you to have a small talk with a stranger. IF YOU HAVE NO FUCKING IDEA HOW TO START A SMALL TALK ( Let me know and I will post a very easy method easy to copy method here in the Self Improvement University)*

Today is Tuesday. So let’s start Tomorrow. Let’s ask people for their opinion about something: How about: WHY DO YOU THINK SO MANY PEOPLE WATCHED TO ROYAL WEDDING ? (This topic seems interesting to me since people, should have an interesting response to that question…)

REMEMBER THIS IS YOUR LIFE!!! AND DOING THIS EXERCISE MIGHT BE STRANGE BUT REMEMBER: THIS IS YOUR LIFE. AND IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS TALKING TO PEOPLE YOU DON’T KNOW HOW DO YOU WANT TO MEET  INTERESTING PEOPLE OUTSIDE YOUR SOCIAL CIRCLE. LOOK AT THE BIG PICTURE NOT AT THE SINGLE PERHAPS AWKWARD SITUATION :-)!
